For the past 16 years, the Catalina Island Women’s Forum has held its annual Wine Festival in Avalon to raise funds for programs supporting women and youth on the island. One of the Forum’s goals is to provide financial and emotional assistance to abused women and children in Avalon through their Domestic Abuse Intervention Program. They are also involved in a Student Mentoring & Scholarship Program in which members provide guidance to and act as role models for young women.
For the 17th Annual Wine Festival on September 15th, there will be wine from around 70 wineries to enjoy, as well as delicious hors d’oeuvres and live music. The location is outside on the northwest side of the Casino building. This event is a highlight for both local residents and visitors alike, and what better place to enjoy a glass of vino than with a view of Descanso Beach on a beautiful Saturday in September! This event, including a silent auction, supports an amazing cause, which has allowed many local women to attend college and pursue professional careers both on and off Catalina Island.
