For more than two and a half decades, every fall the hills around Avalon have echoed with the sounds of some of the best smooth jazz artists in the world. The talent and location of JazzTrax have created an array of avid aficionados who return each year to experience one – or more – weekends of the festival. Festival organizer Art Good divided the festival into three weekends, always the first three weekends in October, each with a different lineup, in order to allow the greatest number of fans to attend the festival. A Thursday night unplugged concert kicks off each of the weekends, which feature plenty of after parties in addition to the main concert in the Casino Ballroom.
This year’s festival begins Oct. 3, 4, 5 & 6 and opening weekend features Saxophonist Vincent Ingala, Booker T. Jones, David Benoit, Selina Albright and Jesse Cook.
Weekend number two happens Oct. 10, 11, 12 & 13 and features Larry Braggs, Four80East, Hiroshima, Spencer Day and Sax in the City with some of the hottest saxophonists around hitting the stage together.
The final weekend of 2013 includes Phil Perry, Euge Groove, Jonathan Fritzen and Selina Albright.
Hamilton Cove villas are popular amongst JazzTrax fans. They provide full ocean views and the perfect backdrop for jazz music. Avalon homes and Avalon condos are a great choice as well, especially to share with a group of jazz lovers. Tickets are available for single shows or in a weekend long package if you just can’t get enough.
