Bluewater overlooking the blue water.
The answer to “Where do you want to eat?” got a little more interesting in Avalon recently. Catalina Island’s newest dining experience opened this summer and has quickly become a popular option, thanks in no small part to its dramatic location perched over Avalon Harbor. Bluewater Avalon served its first customers shortly before July 4 and features Cape Cod style architecture and fresh fish artfully prepared.
With both indoor and outdoor seating and an ocean view from pretty much any seat in the house, the new restaurant will be a great place to enjoy no matter what the weather.
Bluewater’s offerings are nearly 100 percent sustainably harvested and include many local specialties whenever available, including halibut, swordfish and lobster. They also have a menu full of delectable temptations from farther afield. This week, my favorites are the cedar-planked salmon and the Baja-style fish tacos.
The restaurant is open seven days a week for both lunch and dinner. An extensive wine list complements the menu and you’ll find several craft beers and a full bar to explore.
