With its wide range of activities and adventures, Catalina Island is prefect destination for any family. Whether ziplining down Descanso Canyon, learning history at the Catalina Island Museum or in pursuit of the big one on a fishing charter, Santa Catalina seems tailor-made for family time – especially with the added space and convenience of your own vacation rental.

Dining on the island also provides a wide range of options for families. Cooking in is certainly an option, but you’ll also find a pizza joint with an attached arcade; a family friendly spot where you can throw the peanut shells on the floor and several great burger joints and taco stands.

Avalon has several small parks for the little ones. People’s Park, across from Avalon City Hall on Avalon Canyon Road has a play scape and picnic tables. City Park, tucked in the corner of Crescent Avenue and Pebbly Beach Road features a machine gun commemorating Avalon’s roll in World War II. Behind the machine gun, you’ll find a play scape, complete with a “zipline,” as well as tables and barbecue pits. Near the boat terminal is what is locally known as “the boat park,” which has a small play scape suitable for younger children.

For older kids, you’ll find a skate park tucked behind Avalon City Hall, as well as the Avalon Teen Center in the basement of the Avalon Community Church.

Pack up the kids and head on over, there’s plenty to do.
