3 tips for a quick Catalina getaway

Hoping to run away from Catalina Island at the last minute? Luckily that won’t be a problem – at least most of the time. Catalina Island’s proximity to the mainland and frequent travel options make it an ideal destination for a spontaneous getaway. If you’re hoping to run away to Catalina Island at the last minute, here are three things to keep in mind.

Be flexible

If you’re planning last minute it helps to have some flexibility built in to your itinerary. Depending on the time of year, you may need to have a Plan A and Plan B when it comes to things like boat times, dining reservations and activities.

Don’t be afraid to ask

If you’ve put together a spur of the minute plan to escape to Catalina Island, don’t be afraid to ask for advice. Your reservation agent knows plenty of things to do and places to go, but you can also get ideas from the waitress at your restaurant, your tour guide and the deck hands on your boat.

Take a tour

Coming to the island for a quick weekend away? One of the best ways to get an overview of everything there is here is to take a tour. While four-hour bus rides are available, your idea of an ideal tour may involve a zipline, a parasail, a golf cart or a Segway. Whatever way you choose to do it, taking a tour can give you a great overview of the island and spotlight a few of the more involved things you might want to do on your next visit.
