Celebrating the holidays in Avalon
Like it or not, the holiday season is rapidly approaching. On Catalina Island, the holiday decorations will soon be hung and the community Christmas tree will soon shine from Crescent Avenue. Several local events will make this a December not to be missed, whether you’re looking for shopping, music or a peek at some of Avalon’s most impressive homes.
Shop at Home Night has become a harbringer of the holidays in Avalon. As part of the Catalina Island Christmas tradition, Shop At Home Night has endured for two decades and still brings together Catalina retailers and those eager to avoid the mainland mall madness –whether they are Island visitors or residents. This year’s Shop At Home Night is scheduled for Dec. 5 and will include late-night shopping, discounts and holiday treats.
On Dec. 10, the iconic Inn at Mt. Ada will be open for a holiday open house. Recreating a popular event from year’s past, the Catalina Island Foundation will make this one of their signature events.
One of the island’s newest events has also quickly become one of its most popular. The Catalina Island Museum’s Open House and Holiday Concert is scheduled for Dec. 11 and brings together the Avalon Theatre with an ensemble performance from California’s top university musicians.
The Catalina Island Medical Center Foundation is opening the doors of some of Avalon’s most impressive homes for its Holiday Home Tour on Dec. 12.
