Vacation Rental Summary
My family has been renting property on Avalon from CIVR for as long as I can remember. Loved that this location was close to the main street. Most of the properties have been pretty good about having their kitchen stocked with basics (condiments, saran wrap, foil, etc.) but this place you had to basically start from scratch. Just be prepared to bring your own or spend some time shopping once you're on the island. Other notes: nice size bathroom, not a lot of kitchen space, great floor plan for sleeping arrangements.
Well, we didn't find the charcoal grill or the patio, but the cottage was very conveniently located, and the perfect size for this couple and our 12 year old granddaughter. Not much privacy, with only a folding door between the bedroom and the other "bedroom" (with just an old sleeper sofa that filled the room when opened). The kitchen was tiny, but had plenty of dishes, silverware, and appliances. The bathroom, while cozy, had a very nice shower stall. The main benefit of this place is its location - just a block from the beach, the grocery store, shops, restaurants, and attractions; yet it's on one of the quieter, less traveled streets. And since most of what we did was outside on the island, we didn't spend much time in the cottage. I couldn't tell you how well the TV worked, as we never even tried to turn it on! I did really miss having wi-fi, however, and found only one place in town (in front of a hotel) where I could get a free signal.
When we walked in we said: "Awww, it's so cute." Nautical decor, small and cozy. Although the beds looked like hospital beds they were very comfortable. The house has a bit of a musty smell, but it is old. The kitchen needed more glasses, both wine and drinking and only one light worked in the kitchen but Civr stated they would replace the lights. The bathroom had a great shower and room to put your makeup etc on top of the vanity. The light fixture above the sink was also burned out. There is a wooden sign that hangs by the front entrance: "wright place" and it was for us. I would stay there again. I stayed there with my Cousin as a birtday getaway present for her. I would not want to stay there with my boyfriend due to the double beds. I would give it a 3.5 rating. Average to Very good.
Great location on a quiet street close to everything. The house was well kept and has the character of an old beach cottage. Civr was excellent to work with. The beds are horribly uncomfortable and not even worth sleeping on. Two full beds in the room were newer but very cheap and uncomfortable. Two sofabeds in the other rooms were even worse. I ended up putting the sofabed mattress on the floor.
