Avalon Homes - 304 Sumner Ave - 2 bedrooms - 1 bath

The living area and master bedroom was great, but the second room was too small! If you just want a place to crash, this is a good one. There's no exhaust fan, so cooking in there makes the whole place smell of whatever you're cooking. The bathroom is in the master bedroom so if you have people that need to void at night then dress appropriately at night. But for a family of 4 with small kids this would be a great place. We liked it and it served it 's purpose for us. The after hours service was good and reliable.

This is the second year we have stayed in this house. Both times we were there for 7 nights and it was perfect for the 2 of us . We go for the Jazz Festival so we do a lot of walking out to the Casino for the concerts and this is a great location to stay. Also easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Everything in this house is homey and comfortable - bed, sofas, and kitchen. Also love the big TV!

We really enjoyed renting this home. It was very centrally located, comfortable and cozy. My husband and I stayed here with another family we are friends with, who have a toddler. As opposed to renting hotel rooms, this gave us more privacy and more space. Plus, we were all able to relax together instead of going back to our respective hotel rooms. We cooked and ate at the house which really helped cut back on costs for the vacation as a whole. The main downside is that there is only 1 bathroom and to get to it, you need to go into one of the bedrooms. So if you are not in that bedroom and you need to use the bathroom at night, it feels somewhat intrusive to the couple in that bedroom. So this property is ideal for 1 large family instead of 2 small families. But, regardless, we had a great time and really enjoyed this home. We would stay here again.

We have stayed in Hamilton Cove units primarily, but also in avalon proper; the Mermaid House was last year. Your home is beautiful with the open dark wood ceiling and crisp white wall and shudder paint. Our family of 5's suggestions are: dump the oversized living room furniture (past reviews note the sofa bed's discomfort and it has unfortunately destroyed your new carpeting beneath it) for a futon and perhaps 3 small club chairs. Your very rustic dining table works, but for price we pay it could instead be in the patio off the back alley and replaced inside. Your plastic glasses leak so please replace them periodically. Finally, request "housekeeping" to thoroughly clean the kitchen and not rely on renters to leave it better than found as it was not clean for us. Your location is ideal and your shared family history is very heartwarming. We too have shared a long love of the Island from boating beginning in the 20's through the 80's, employment, and now family vacations annually. Aloha

We had a wonderful stay at our rental house. Near everything...Only disappointment was the pull out couch. I thought originally that it wouldn't be that bad but it was horrible...I think my husband is going to have a few visits to the chiropractor to fix this one and he only slept on the pull out couch for one night.. Other than that I would recommend this house to anyone..

We were very pleased with the charm and location. So easy to get around with our bikes and our boys had their skateboards and were free to come and go. We were pleased with the large TV and games boards provided for evening entertainment, The kitchen was perfect for morning breakfast and afternoon snacks. The only negative was one bathroom to share, this is a very old house, but the charm of the family home with a history on the island made it worth it.

The house was in excellent shape and was just as described. We took our two grandchildren and two of their friends for the week . They said it was one of the best vacations ever !! House is located on the flats an easy walk to the beach. Had all the amenities for cooking but still close to many fine restaurants.(we did both) Only complaint is the queen bed mattress needs to be replaced !

Floor need to fix every time people walk upstairs of the master bedroom making squicky noise bedtime is worse time I can't sleep .

Nice little house close to beach. Bed was uncomfortable bring your own pillows. Other than that had a good time.

We enjoyed our stay on Sumner. The bunk bed room was a little small but we made it work. The other half of our family stayed one block over. The next time, we will plan earlier and get an upstairs / downstairs unit. Darlene Hubanks

Very comfortable stay. Reminded me of cottages in Nantucket! Great neighborhood. All the accommodations of home. Tv - made sports center like I was at home! Towels and little hotel soap and shampoo was a nice touch. I will rent again!

It was great to stay in a home..compared to a hotel room. We spent more time there than expected because it was relaxing and nice for the kids to run around. The beds were very uncomfortable ..last night slept much better on the floor but overall a very nice vacation w the family.

My mom, my 2 children (age 6 & 7) and I decided to spend a couple of nights on Catalina. We decided on a house instead of a hotel because it seemed like it would have more room for the kids to spread out. The location is perfect and located so close to everything. The house is has all necessities and fairly comfortable. Only drawbacks are: 1- Not great quality of sheets, towels, etc. (this may not be up the owner, but rather the housekeeping service) 2- The sleeper sofa was nearly impossible to get back into the sofa once it was pulled out. The 2nd night, I just slept on the sofa so I would not have to hassle with trying to put it away in the morning. 3- I wish it was slightly nicer quality. Just seemed to be slightly "bare bones" in regards to furnishings & sheets/ towels.

We really appreciated Catalina Island Vacation Rental's service. Everyone we spoke to was kind, and gave us all the information we needed. We even spoke to one about rental properties in the area, and he gave us answers to so many questions. We also got extra time in our home since there was no one checking in that afternoon. The home was fine, but I just think all the properties are so expensive for one night! Also, our location was a little loud but close to the shops, so it was nice to have a short walk but at night it was loud. Overall, a great vacation for our family!
