Vacation Rental Summary
I go with a group of friends every year to Catalina and we stay at different house every year. This home is great but has some issues with noise as the acoustics as the floors are tile and it's very echoy. The deck on top is very nice but has an odd window light that looks down on the kitchen right in the middle. The house is beautifully decorated and is very charming and accommodated our group of 8.
We stayed for a long weekend while visiting Catalina for the first time, and this house made us glad we didn't get hotel rooms. We wanted a family style layout so we could cook and eat together, but still have enough room to spread out and for the kids to be play separate from the adults. It was perfect because both downstairs and upstairs have gathering spaces. It's only 3 blocks to the seaside main strip of avalon and no more than a few blocks from almost everything except Descanco Beach Club is a 20 minute slow-paced walk, but we thought Claressa Street was more peaceful than some of the busily trafficked streets right downtown. We were disappointed that the grill was at street level along the side of the house instead of on the patio, as is pictured, but that's a minor point. The only complaint we had was that several of the pots were unusable due to torn up teflon on the bottom and we didn't realize that until we went to cook the first night, but we left a message and Civr brought us new pans in the morning after they opened. We would definitely stay there again.
