Vacation Rental Summary
This darling cottage was excellent for our Catalina a Vacation. It was well appointed with all the amenities of home. On a quiet, safe street for kids. Close to everything, a real beauty.
The home is located on a quiet no-vehicle street which is great for eating outside and visiting with your neighbors, plus it's just a short five minute walk to the beach. The house is old though and can use some remodeling. The front sliding windows don't lock. The front curtains are thin and the light from the exterior street lamp is so bright that it is impossible to sleep in the front rooms at night. Another problem is that you have to walk through the front bedroom to access the rear bedroom. It does have a washer and dryer which is a bonus. It would be nice if the owner would provide some plastic chairs for outside seating. The rental company is great to deal with.
A lot of homes in Catalina are old and falling apart, so we didn't expect the house to be like new, but it was pretty dingy. Kitchen was not well stocked. No cheese grater or spaghetti strainer. I couldn't find a lid for the skillet. No dishwasher. Cushions and sheets are stained. There was a weird drip-like stain on the wall in the master bedroom. The top bunk bed squeaked like crazy and kept all three kids awake for much of the night. Master bedroom is small. My husband and I barely fit on the bed together, and we're not big people. Think of it as upscale camping. For the good part, the staff of CIVR are efficient and easy to work with. The location is great - on a quiet street but close to everything. And it is a cute, quaint little house. Our relatives stayed two houses down at 315 Eucalyptus, which was newly remodeled, so we spent most of our time over there.
Catalina bungalow are small, but our group of 6 from 7 to 75 found it very comfortable. Two bathrooms is nice. It was clean and comfortable. We liked being on the no car street. The staff at Civr were helpful and friendly. Jan
