This is a classic Catalina two bedroom, 1 3/4 bath, one level cottage with a large front porch and a small back yard with a charcoal grill. It's about 2 1/2 blocks from the beach and downtown Avalon. The master bedroom has a California king size bed, flat panel TV, and a 3/4 bath. The second bedroom has twin beds, and the living room has a queen hide-a-bed. Nice open floor plan, 26-inch flat panel TV, DVD/VCR, cable, free wireless internet, fully equipped kitchen (and a "play kitchen" for the little ones), dining area, and lots of little extras that make this cottage charming and comfortable. This home may allow a small dog (less than 40 pounds); please get details from our reservation specialists. No smoking, please.

Vacation Rental Summary
This darling two bedroom home with a great covered porch in front made us want to stay even longer. We ate breakfast and had evening appetizers on the front porch every day. It was very comfortable and clean and also had a newly constructed bathroom. It took us a while to get used to the large amount of golf carts going up and down the street but that soon became part of the ambiance of Catalina Island along with all the friendly people who we met while enjoying our front porch. We walked easily to the beach, took tours of the island, and ate at the waterfront restaurants which were all walking distance close. Shopping was super close too along with the two Vons stores where we purchased lots of our food so we could enjoy the comforts of this cute house. CIVR personnel were very friendly and helpful. I think this house is well loved by the owner.
The cottage has a nice location. A quick walk to the market and beach, and restaurants. The cottage itself was quaint. Nicely decorated. Secure backyard. Comfortable beds. Kitchen well stocked. We had a wedding reception with 20 people and the covered porch and backyard was perfect to find room to gather. Neighbors are friendly!
This house has a wonderful, warm, homey feel to it and we absoutely loved it. We had 4 adults and never felt crowded. It is nicely decorated and has quality kitchen ware, furnishings, bedding, towels, etc. It is centrally located which is convenient although it is on a very busy street so was noisy when sitting on the porch trying to relax. Civr provided excellent service as usual.
What a great property. A little noisy with a couple of houses being remodeled near by but still enjoyed the porch after 5. Totally furnished including games. Would go back in a heartbeat!!
We just returned to Texas from our Girl's Getaway in Catalina. My sister, 2 aunts, a friend and I, spent 4 wonderful days at this very cute cottage. Check in/out process was seamless. The house was spotless, well stocked and only a short walk from everything; we only used taxis to the concerts and from ferry. The kitchen was so well equipped and liked by everyone. I wouldn't call this a negative, but just wouldn't recommend the craw foot tub for anyone with bad knees (like mind) :-), but would highly recommend this property for anyone planning a trip to Catalina. I will definitely use CIVR for a rental next year. Thank you Chay.
We have been staying in Catalina one to two weeks a summer for many years. This year we stayed at 330 Sumner and it was wonderful. The cottage was comfortable, clean, some updating, easy access. I loved the porch where I could sit and read or just watch the people go by. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a washer and dryer that we could use...since we stay for two weeks, it was nice to have that amenity instead of having to take laundry downtown. Because Sumner is a main road, there is some noise from cars and golf carts, but certainly manageable and because of the traffic there are more people to watch!! It was nice having the screen doors on both front and back doors so we could open up the doors and get a nice breeze flowing through the cottage. The kitchen was compact and very easy to use. We do a lot of our own cooking, so really enjoyed the ease of it. We have reuped for next year, so I guess that says a lot...The other thing that was really nice, is we got to Catalina earlier than we had anticipated and the cottage was ready, so we were able to get the keys and start out vacation immediately upon arriving. thanks so much.

Beautifully decorated with numerous personal touches, we definitely recommend this rental. Minutes from the ocean, shopping, and restaurants, the location is also perfect. Catalina Island Vacation Rentals was a pleasure to deal with. Check in took minutes and all that was promised was delivered.
This was a very clean cottage, all the kitchen items one needs and well organized. Location is very central, can walk anywhere. We loved the front porch! and back private patio with charcoal BBQ! The only complaint is they only supplied 1 roll of paper towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper, plus 2 mini bars of soap for the shower. This was for 4 nights and 4 adults. Thought that was cheap. We had to go buy our own.
We’ve been going to a little beach cottage on “The Flats” in the quaint town of Avalon, Catalina Island, California, for at least 10 years. We like to break the back of a long Saskatchewan winter, and get a jump on spring. 330 Sumner, managed by Catalina Island Vacation Rentals, is a much-anticipated destination for us. We have traveled extensively worldwide, and this little hideaway is one of our top five favourites. Two weeks at a time means we’ve developed affection for the place as if it were our own. The cottage is an oasis of peaceful relaxation and a constant sanctuary for us. If you’re not familiar with Catalina Island, and the little city of Avalon, think a quaint seaside village, built Mediterranean style up the hills overlooking Half Moon Bay. The island is 22 miles off the coast of California, accessible by several ferries and even a 15-minute helicopter ride if you simply can’t wait the hour or so boat trip (though you’ll miss the dolphins). The Avalon harbour’s most famous sentinel is the iconic Casino (not a gambling casino, but ‘casino’ as in the Spanish ‘meeting place’) with its breathtaking movie theatre and 1930’s ballroom that is still used for movie premieres, galas and various events throughout the year. You can buy tickets for a host of activities and events while you’re here. Just Google Catalina Island in advance and you’ll soon realize you’ll have more than enough to do and see, including guided walking tours around town and to various points of interest including the Casino itself. But back to 330 Sumner. The cottage a classic beach house centrally located within an easy stroll of shops, the beach. Almost anything is within walking distance here, so if you’re moderately fit and can hoist your backpack, you can make the walk home from the Catalina Express boat terminal with maybe a short rest at the halfway point. The 2-bedroom (there’s also a pullout couch so it sleeps 6 comfortably), 1 and 3/4-bathroom cottage is older, but lovingly well maintained. The master bedroom has a huge king sized bed, a flat panel TV and a ¾ bath. Second bedroom has twin beds and a pullout futon, great for the grandchild. The main living area has a 26-inch flat panel TV with cable, DVD/VCR and a big selection of DVD movies, many kid friendly. The community library is just down the street; you can get a membership card with a California proof of residency. There’s also a shop down on the habourfront at the end of Sumner where you can secure DVD rentals with a credit card. But for goodness sake, don’t spend all your time inside watching movies! If you must have a theatre experience, none surpasses the Casino theatre so put that on your ‘must do’ list. The cottage has been attentively upgraded and renovated over the years, painted this year and you are welcomed with colourful flowers in the boxes along the front porch. The place is full of special memories for the owner, who continues to use it periodically and it looms large in the childhoods of her family who in turn bring their own kids here. The house is outfitted with anything you’d need and a fully equipped kitchen for your own cooking, baking and barbequing. You’ll be pleasantly surprised that there are always some non-perishables left in the pantry by previous guests, so take stock before you pop over to the grocery. Just pay forward that favour when you leave. Get yourself a Vons membership card; the grocery store is just a couple of blocks away and a card will mean substantial savings. Perhaps it’s true what they say about island life; people are smiling and friendly, always willing to provide you with information, and happy to hear about where you’re from. Even the Vons staff are cultishly friendly. There are games and beach toys for the kids, wagons to take pails and shovels down to the beach for sand castle making. There’s a barbeque in the little back yard. A washer-dryer. Towels and bedding are all supplied. There’s a front porch with a table and comfy chairs so a morning cup of coffee is all you need to watch the golf carts go by as people head to work or take their children up the hill to school. The porch borders the sidewalk so you have ample opportunity to greet the neighbours and visitors, and even get some neighbourhood lore from the old timers. If there is anything you feel you’re lacking, you’re probably not in holiday mode. We think of 330 Sumner as our little piece of home in paradise. We relax, we hike, we write. We go visit Lolo the barber who, at 83, still has a steady hand for straight razor shaves and is possibly the sweetest man alive. It’s been our island retreat for a decade and we look forward to coming back here for years to come. We know you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.
