This vacation home rents on a nightly basis (2 night minimum, holidays and selected dates excepted; 3 night minimum mid-June through Labor Day). Rates subject to change and may vary by week. Rates vary by week and are subject to change. Rates do not include one-time cleaning and linen fee, 12% City of Avalon occupancy tax, and processing fees.

    First, I want to say I will be coming back to CIVR and Catalina Island for sure! I think it's important however to provide full disclosure with regards to this unit. #1 the stairs are VERY narrow and very difficult to walk up and down, let alone with luggage, groceries etc.. IMO not safe, rails most certainly need to be installed. . #2 I'm 5'2", the bed height came to my high waist. This made it very difficult to get in and out of bed. #3, furniture and appliances are in much need of replacement.#4 The unit needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Not just surface. The dishes, glasses had a horrible odor, dust was obvious where it should not have been. As part of the lease agreement, trash removal is required, there are no instructions as to location or a layout of the unit to locate receptacles or washer / dryer, (which were tuned off due to drought) which I understand but would have liked more of a notice than the day before arrival. all in all, for the $$ this unit needs a face lift, safety and comfort features need to be considered. With that said. CIVR was very good to work with and we love the island and plan on renting at Hamilton Cove next year.

    This rental was even nicer than the good pictures on the website. The kitchen was almost completely open to the living room. The unit was very inviting for our occasional afternoon nap & a movie. Once we learned the area, while we were there, I shopped other rentals so we could do a drive by for future possibilities . What I learned was that if you find a place with a balcony, it is often off of the M.BR & small, not making it convenient for others to enjoy. This one was more like a small extension of the rental. The balcony was very big & felt private. We ate out there every meal. The upstairs unit was a good decision on our part, as to not hear foot traffic. We did not see the actual beach but you were close enough to see the beach area and we were able to watch the 4th fireworks from our balcony. We thought we would be missing out by not getting a unit with a golf cart but realized we probably would have let it sit most of the time anyway, due to the closeness of everything. The kitchen was very well equipped with nice baking dishes and pots & pans (not hodge-podge). We baked and cooked most of our meals including a daily bar-b-q (charcoal) . We were also impressed with the local grocery store having very good prices. The bedroom and living room both had ceiling fans & was very well decorated. The bed had a pillow top mattress. The bedroom furniture was nice quality, all newer windows. The bathroom/shower and kitchen was very clean. A bathroom has to feel clean. Be aware of the stairs to the laundry facility(shared w/the downstairs unit). The steps are steep & short & the light switch is catered to the downstairs unit. Bring a flashlight if used in the evening. Had a problem with the DVD player. The maintenance person did the repair & was personable to make the experience even nicer. For convenience, there was a coffee maker, a hairdryer, a lot of plastic food storage containers, & zip lock bags for leftovers w/a full size fridge . The street was a little busy w/golf carts but cannot say it was loud nor disturbing. Overall, felt it was a really nice place for the price. One small note: We arrived on the last ferry of the day w/no instructions on receiving our key. I had the facilities contact #, but the gentleman from the cab was very familiar w/the routien & picked up our keys & delivered us to our room.

    Really enjoyed the upper unit, it was perfect for my family. The balcony was great place to drink ur morning coffee and relax and dinner. It is only a couple blocks from town. Having kitchen and BBQ was great to cook breakfast and dinners. It was way better than staying in hotel. If ur going to have 4 adults, I recommend bring a blow up mattress, the pull out couch is like a futon, little small for adults.
