The lower part of a duplex. This well cared for two bedroom 1 1/2 bath cottage has the original "Avalon" floor plan: tandem bedrooms toward the back and the living space in the front. The kitchen and full bath are located between the two bedrooms. The first bedroom has a queen size bed, the second also has a queen size bed plus a half bath, and the living room holds a double hide-a-bed. Amenities include color TV/DVD, fully equipped kitchen and small fenced in area at front of house. Located approximately 2 1/2 blocks from the beach and downtown area. No smoking, please.
This property rents on a nightly basis during the non-summer seasons (2 night minimum, holidays and selected dates excepted) and on a weekly basis (Sunday to Sunday) in summer (mid-June through Labor Day). Rates vary by week and are subject to change. Rates do not include one-time cleaning and linen fee, 12% City of Avalon occupancy tax, and processing fees.

Vacation Rental Summary
The unit is very old, and the last "update" was many years ago. The key provided at the office was not for that unit, the kitchen sink / garbage disposal was leaking on the second day, and the drains in the entire unit were extremely slow to empty. The street is very busy, even for a small town like avalon. Some golf carts and autos were extremely loud, and the back bedroom of the unit is on an alleyway that was just as busy and loud. Many of the hotel / vacation rental service staff live on the street, or as we found out from a couple of the workers themselves, they stay in vacant units on that street as part of their compensation. The second bedroom is not a bedroom, as it does not have a "fourth wall or a door", so the noise from both the front street and back alley, as well as the rest of the unit, made sleeping difficult. There were no ceiling fans as the house is too old to support them, and the freestanding fans are at least 15 years and louder than the street itself. The matresses in both bedrooms are absolutely horrid. On the morning of checkout, as we were cleaning and packing up our kayak and beach stuff, we could here water leaking. Upon walking on the side to the alley, there was a mid-sized crawl space to access the underside of the unit, that was uncovered. When we looked in there, we could see that the drain from the bathroom was severely leaking, and had been for a long time. All that being said, if rustic / vintage living on a tight budget during the summer in Catalina is what you're looking for, this unit may work well for you. I would not recommend this to any one I know. This unit is a "...get what you pay for.." place to rent.
