Vacation Rental Summary
The Condo was great. It had two minor issues though. Issue 1 the phone didn't work. We tried to make a local call out and the phone wouldn't work. The second issue was that the bathtub wouldn't drain properly. When I checked out the associate at the rental agency said she would have her matanice guy check it out. It had a lot of stairs to get to it, but since we are young it was get excerise for us. We used the jacuzzi and it was nice. We loved the TV. I have tv channel envy. It had channels I don't have and wish I had. I gave it 3 stars for cleaniness because who ever rent this place before us didn't wash many dishes so we had to wash some stuff before we could eat.
Such a beautiful place! I planned on staying for two nights, but due to bad weather my boat was cancelled. Mgmt refunded the night that I couldnt make it. I was amazed at how nice and accomadating they were! Beautiful house decorated and pleasent and walking distance from everything! Amazing all around!
Our condo was very nice with a beautiful view of the harbor. However it was on the 3rd level and we had to carry our luggage up two short sets of stairs just to get to the elevator and then down another long stairway to get from the hallway door down into the condo. We were exhausted by the time we walked from the ferry into the room. We chose this condo because the ad said there was a swimming pool; the ad did not say that the pool is not heated after Labor Day, so we couldn't use it!
Thanks for your response. Catalina Island Vacation Rentals manages over 180 home, villas, and condos. To get the views desired some of our properties do have more steps. In the future when booking a property with us let us know if steps are an issue or concern we will share with you properties that may be more to your liking.
The pool and hot tub are managed by the association. We can on your check with them to see if it open. We have Villas at Hamilton Cove that has a pool and hot tub available year round.
Kinda had to laugh at 'that 70's show' style bathroom and the kitchen appliances (I took pictures and told friends i was in an appliance museum)! :-) Everything was super clean, worked perfectly, and the booking, check in, and check out process were a snap. Perfect getaway. Thanks for delivering everything as promised. We will definitely be back.
The staff was kind but that's where it ends. The building elevator was out of order the entire time we were there. The unit is several flights high. With luggage it was a difficult climb. Our toilet overflowed three times. Although housekeeping replenished our towels, the soiled towels sat in a pile in the hallway for 3 days. The unit was clean and the view is pretty, but our experience was ok at best.
Thanks for your response. We apoligize for the elevator not working we were told by the association that is should have been fixed quicker then it was, living on an island it is not always easy to get things fixed as quickly. The housekeeping staff should have removed the towels in a more timely manner also. This was addressed with them. In the future always call our office if you have any issues and will work as quickly as possible to address.
My family of four stayed at this one-bedroom unit for two nights in late august. Despite its modern furniture and decor as seen in pictures, the unit is very dated. Located right next to the building elevator, one can hear all the noise from the outside when the patio sliding doors are open (with no a/C units, the sliding doors need to be open for ventilation). We were able to check in early around 11am since the unit was not occupied prior to our stay, which was a plus. The tv in the livingroom did not work, but while we stepped out to grab lunch, the rental management sent someone to swap the tv with a working one. The carpet felt very damp (possibly from the ocean humidity?) and looked dirty to the point I did not feel comfortable with my little ones playing on the floor. I did not use the kitchen other than storing drinks in the aged refrigerator. The bath tub in the only bathroom in the unit has a very low ceiling and the showerhead was at my eye level (average height), so taking the shower was a bit awkward. The community pool is quite small for the number of units in the complex (3 buildings), and there's no shower/bathroom so one will have to run up to his/her room if/when the nature calls. The complex has a lot of steps everywhere, from the entrance to the elevator, from the elevator to your unit, from your unit door to the main floor! Paying $220/night plus tax, booking fee, cleaning fee and tax on booking and cleaning fee, our two-night stay's bill was over $600. I thought a $90 cleaning fee plus tax was way too expensive for a 600 sqft unit, but when renting a unit through Catalina Island Vacation Rental, you can't go around it.
We recently stayed at this very cute, clean condo during our vacation to Catalina. We were able to check in early and add an extra night very last minute. Check in and check out were easy and the condo was full of all the necessities. The only reason I did not give this condo 5 stars, is we had a big stroller with us and even though there is an elevator there were still three smaller flights of stairs you have to climb to get to this top level condo. No handicap access! Other then that - condo and service was great! Pool was warm and view is great. You are the furthest street and back corner you can be from downtown, but even at that you are only about 3-4 blocks away.
Spacious, large balcony and a great view looking out over the town and avalon harbor. The cleaning fees are a bit steep, seems like if you destroyed the place $90 for cleaning would be appropriate, that is my only gripe. Overall very happy with the rental.
