Vacation Rental Summary
This place was beautiful. The view was breathtaking and a must see. The property was spacious and clean with all necessities of home and even more. I loved the ambient fireplaces. There were many perks. This property is super close to the pool and spa. The use of the golf cart made getting around town easy and fun.
Very nice property with lots of amenities, great location and fabulous views from this rental. Spacious and well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing vacation (perfect for up to 4people). This unit (1-80) could use a few upgrades and some TLC (saggy couch, new deck door locks, bathroom fixtures, and paint on the doors and interior wood trim). Despite these maintenance issues, I would definitely rent the unit again. Did I mention the views?
It would appear that this review is not for this property. Please Disregard.
Also, the villa mentioned (H180) does not have these issues either.
Both are quite nice with comfortable furnishings.
If you are going for the views...this place is absolutely spectacular! Also, it is one of the few buildings in Hamilton Cove with an elevator. I would definitely stay here again. I give it 4 stars because it is VERY dated. I don't mind dated if it is clean but this was the problem. We wanted to use the kitchen facilities but all of the dishes and pans were so dirty. There was food on the silverware and pans and we had to wash everything before using anything. It was a huge bummer! The management company was awesome and did refund my cleaning deposit. They were also very helpful regarding everything with our stay.
This owner has been busy updating various items in the villa.
We've switched house keeping services on this villa and instructed all housekeepers to diligently inspect all dishes, flatware and cooking items, as the hard water on the island is not conducive to allowing dishwashers to clean items 'sparkling clean'.
We continue to work to improve your experience.
The sofa bed was too uncomfortable ! Perfect for 4 . The condo and location are great and the view is spectacular !!!!
“Based on this review, the owner bought a high-end sofa bed gel mattress to replace the current sofa bed mattress...even though the sofa bed was new. We tried it out, and it’s much more comfortable than a regular sofa bed mattress.”
You can't beat the view from this property. It was well stocked, clean and the bed comfy. We would definitely choose this property again.
Hamilton Cove certainly appears to be the nicest place to stay on the island. The complex is beautiful and well maintained. Our unit was clean, comfortable and perfect for our family of four. The only complaint is that the unit was advertised as having walk out access to a beautiful yard, which we did not. Maybe we ended up with a different unit. But we enjoyed the two decks, the pool and the hot tub. The beds were comfortable and kitchen was adequate for preparing meals. It was really great to have a golf cart included with the rental so we could explore on our own. We will definitely rent at Hamilton cove again.
View and location are stunning. Our only disappointment was that the master bedroom toilet was not working and so our stay was interrupted by plumbers and service folks having to come in while we were there. The condo is nice, but wear and tear showing due to its age.
We stayed at this villa for a weekend birthday get away and it was perfect! It was modern, on the quiet side of the island, and provided a golf cart so we could get around the island. Our patio was calm and relaxing and we saw sea lions and dolphins in the morning listening to our ipod. It was honestly such a great place to stay. Loved it and would highly recommend staying at this location if you are planning on staying on the island. I would definitely stay there again.
This unit has gorgeous views from both bedrooms. We watched sunrise every morning from our balconies. Like other reviews stated, the unit needs some deep cleaning. We found kids toy, clothes on the couch and old half eaten ice cream in the freezer after we checked in. There are red stains (blood?) on the toilet paper holder and on the folding door for the den/second bathroom. The carpet is stained and old, the walls and doors need a fresh coat of paint. The golf cart is old and doesn't have much power. Still, We enjoyed our stay very much and we saw so many deers and two foxes near the Hamilton Cove Villa. We will stay at the Hamilton Cove again next time, but a different unit.
We always stay in Hamilton Cove when we visit Catalina Island, but this was our first time staying in the unit 10-79. We enjoyed our stay, however the unit needs cleaning! The unit is mostly white decor inside with a light brown carpet. The carpet has stains and if you are a clean freak you would be able to see that doors and cabinets need cleaning. I am not sure if the ladies that are there to clean are doing the job? We have stayed in another unit in the past, but the unit was not available this time for our trip in Hamilton Cove. We look forward to our next return, but we will look for our old unit again!
Thank you for your review. The owner of H1079 has purchased new living room and dining room furniture. The owner is also installing new carpet and window treatments. We have scheduled a housekeeping 'deep clean', as well as attending to any other issues. DO come back and give H1079 another try.
We have been coming to Catalina - and staying at Hamilton Cove for the last 20+ years. In unit 10-79 for about 5 I think. The problem with 10-79 is each night we need to put up a blanket with tacks to block out the sun that invariably blasts thru the glass doors/windows in the living room. That is where one of the family sleeps. I have asked the manager to ask the owners for window coverings of some kind to make it a more comfortable place to sleep when morning comes for whoever has to sleep on the couch. We love Ham Cove and enjoy the unit, but it's not cheap and I would hope by next year some kind of window covering - that can be opened and closed - will be added. Also, the golf cart is very sluggish and the brakes were terrible this time. The location of this unit is fantastic though and we have had many happy years staying there. It's a beautiful place.
Unit 1079 overlooks the beach where we were able to observe bait-fish boils, seal patrolling the kelp and the occasional sand shark. On the negative side, the front door really needed a few drops of oil on the hinges. Makes horror movie noises to open/close. The cold water faucet in one bathroom was loose and wobbly. The cautions about towel theft and staining the dishcloths was a little paranoid for my taste. Must have had some bad experiences that I would rather not be blamed for. The check-in office was moved without notice. We were just lucky that a native was able to direct us to the new location. Other than those minor and easily remedied complaints, Unit 1079 is one of my favorite places in the world. The view from the deck gives me joy to recall.
