Vacation Rental Summary
This rental has spectacular views of the Catalina harbor and overall it is spacious for a rental unit. Unfortunately that is the extent of the positive attributes of the property. The furniture is on the older side and while the unit comes with two beds, the most comfortable mattress is on the pull out sofa sleeper. The rest of the furnishings are old and the BBQ and patio furniture were in such bad shape they were unusable. During our stay the unit was ravaged by ants (on a positive note the management company was very responsive in dealing with the ant issue). Other negatives - woke up first morning and coffee maker didn't work. Luckily, management company brought a new one within an hour. Unit was supposed to come with a starter supply of paper towels and it didn't. But, there were plenty of regular towels and washer and dryer are fairly new. Not sure I would pay $600/night during peak season again for this unit, but we didn't spend that much time in the unit other than sleeping anyway.
Hamilton Cove never disappoints. It is one of the more expensive places in Catalina but worth it. It's nice it is away from the hustle and bustle of the town but close enough for a nice walk. We used the golf cart but also walked to town. We stayed in this unit with another couple and it was a very nice layout for 2 couples. Both baths were attached to bedrooms for plenty of privacy. The only challenge with HC is there is no AC in the units and it was a warm weekend. The ceiling fans made it bearable at night. The condo was well equipped and we enjoyed our stay tremendously.
Was the most relaxing vacation experience ever! Great accommodations and beautiful views. It felt like we were on a Mediterranean village vacation. Wehad a party of 18 in 3 villasand there was plenty of room to stretch out and be on your own. Can't wait to go back!
Clean and pleasant. Problems others had mentioned in earlier reviews were fixed--beds were great, carpet was clean, etc. One small complaint was the size of the very tiny coffee cups. Get regular-sized cups. As with all Hamilton Cove rentals, this was expensive, but you have to expect that on Catalina.
A great trip with 6 office women was tainted when a ganster security guard stocked up for several days.Still a great trip ,but the head man needs people skills. Dr. Rose
I have stayed in several of the Hamilton Cove condos over the past 12 years. This was my least favorite. The floor plan was good and the 6 of us had plenty of space. But there were things missing that made us feel like we were borrowing someone's house instead of paying top dollar for a nice vacation home. For example, we used the fold out couch for our adult son but he only had sheets to use - no blanket or pillows. This was advertised as a condo for 6. We told them we would have 6. I would expect bedding for 6. There kitchen was chaotic and there were plenty of kitchen items but not enough coffee mugs - which is a bummer when you want to sit on the balcony and enjoy coffee. The condo and fixtures in general were outdated and some things just didn't work - like the umbrella on the balcony. There was a brand new washer and dryer but no instructions on how to use them and I could not figure it out! And last, but certainly not least, the bed in the master was miserable! Even my husband was complaining and he never notices mattresses... I have back issues so I was actually in pain by the 3rd night of our trip. Don't get me wrong - I love Hamilton Cove! I wouldn't stay anywhere else. It's pricier than hotels but usually well worth the money in my opinion. I would not stay in this particular condo again. Oh - and it is in one of the highest buildings in Hamilton Cove so be prepared to take the golf cart everywhere you go or be prepared to hike up steep hills or numerous flights of stairs. Like every condo in HC - great view!
