Perfect for our needs, only drawback is only 1 bathroom! Close to town and the beach and an easy flat walk everywhere you might want to go!
Smells like a gas leak or dead rats

This property was a three night stay for my family. As soon as we walked in the house we almost threw up. The whole house smelled like a gas leak or dead rats. We opened all the windows and went to the store to buy 4 candles. Still the smell saturated the house. I talked to Catalina Island Vacation Rental the next morning and they said they would come look at it and we could move to another location. They also said they would reimberse $20 for the candles. I declined moving and said I'd check back later after they checked the house for the smell. When I came back they said they couldn't smell anything strange. I asked a neighboor if they could smell it and he ran out thinking it was a gas leak. Also you can't use the oven because the refrigerator door blocks it.

I personally answered this complaint call. I brought a co-worker with me. There was NO gas or 'dead rat' smell. I even brought in the local pest control technician and he confirmed that there was no problem with this home. I'm really not sure what these guests thought the smelled, but they had purchased candles which I offered to reimburse them for. They accepted. I offered to move these guests. They declined. This three bedroom home is well cared for and one of our most economical rentals, sleeping up to 8 occupants. It does have a small kitchen, with full size refrigerator, making it necessary to open the fridge door to enable opening of the oven door completely. To my knowledge this guest is the only one we've had that couldn't figure this out.
