337 Sumner Ave | Avalon Vacation Rental


This is a colorful and cozy one bedroom, one bath beach cottage located approximately 2 1/2 blocks from the beach and downtown Avalon. The bedroom has a double bed and the living room has a queen size bed and a queen futon. There is a round bistro style dining or game table inside, as well as a large dining table on the front porch outside. It also offers a fully equipped kitchen and a charcoal BBQ outside for grilling your favorite foods. There are two year-around rentals in the rear of property. No smoking, please.

This vacation home rents on a nightly basis (2 night minimum, holidays and selected dates excepted; 3 night minimum mid-June through Labor Day). Rates subject to change and may vary by week. Rates do not include one-time cleaning and linen fee, 12% City of Avalon occupancy tax, and processing fees.

The front porch is this rental's best feature

The picture and description of this rental did not accurately portray to us its condition. Our biggest complaint was that the unit was just dirty. The linens were very worn and dingy, as were the cushions on the couch. The carpet and flooring were also very worn. The building itself is old and deteriorating and the unit has not been updated to the standard that we have become accustomed to on our other VRBO accommodations- especially for the price! Sadly, the coffee pot did not work and the internet passwords did not connect us. It was EXTREMLY noisy- we could hear every conversation that was going on in the houses to the right and left of us. Since there is no air conditioning, all the windows have to be left open (no screens) which magnify further the house and street noise. All that said, the front porch was comfortable and attractive and we determined to use it well, as we did not necessarily enjoy the interior of the rental. We WERE able to reach someone at the phone number that was provided for us regarding a couple of questions we had upon check-in and check-out, and the unit IS very close to all the shops and restaurants so we were able to easily walk and did not need a golf cart. Avalon itself is a great little get-away and this unit is right in the heart of everything going on there. We had just hoped for something nicer than what we got for the price we paid.

The best house on the island.
This is our fourth Spring Break at 337 Sumner. We love this little house. I am a papermaker and the front porch has a large long table which is perfect for me to work and also have breakfast. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of dishes. The rental company is excellent if something is wrong they fix it right away. The house is for sale but we hope we can still get it next year to celebrate our fifth year. The price is also quite reasonable. It's great for 3-4 people.
