Catalina Island dining options have expanded dramatically in the last few years. Several new restaurants have opened their doors and others have redesigned their menus. From great fresh fish and delectable steaks to mouthwatering burgers and tempting tacos, Catalina Island restaurants offer something for everyone.

January offers a perfect opportunity to discover new restaurants and rediscover old favorites. Avalon Restaurant Week, scheduled to coincide with California Restaurant Month, will be held Jan. 20 to 26. The week offers Catalina Island chefs an opportunity to showcase their talents with specially designed prix fixe menus.

Depending on the restaurant, diners will be able to sample the culinary creations for $10, $15 or $20 for lunch and $20, $30 or $40 for dinner.

Restaurants taking part in 2014’s Avalon Restaurant Week include Antonio’s Pizzeria and Cabaret, Bluewater Avalon, Catalina Coffee and Cookie Company, El Galleon Restaurant, Luau Larry’s, Mi Casita Mexican Restaurant and Steve’s Steakhouse.  Additional information about participating restaurants as well as sample menus are available at the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau, which is organizing the event.
