Fall is special event season on Catalina Island. Myriad festivals, concerts and other happenings dot the calendar, making autumn the perfect time to plan a getaway to this Southern California destination.
Catalina Island is also home to some of the world’s most challenging endurance events — two Catalina runs are happening this November.
On November 5, the Renegade Race Series will organize the famous Catalina Island Triathlon. Featuring a swim in Avalon Harbor followed by a bike and run through the hills around Avalon, this popular race attracts triathletes from around the country. Planning on participating? Catalina Island Vacation Rentals is offering 10 percent off during race weekend for participants.
Renegade will also produce a duathlon, which includes a run, bike and then run option that day. Not quite sure you are ready for a triathlon but still want to get competitive? A Catalina Island 5K Run/Walk will also be held Nov. 5.
On November 19, the Catalina Eco Marathon will take runners across Catalina Island’s roads and trails, challenging their endurance with rugged terrain and rewarding them with spectacular views and fascinating wildlife. A half marathon and 10K will complete that day’s races.
